Richard Hutten

Richard Hutten (Zwollerkerspel, 1967) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1991. He started his own studio in Rotterdam the same year, where he worked on various projects, such as furniture design and interior design. He characterised his own sober, no-nonsense work with the phrase ‘no sign of design’. He is one of the prominent representatives of Droog Design. The design platform added a number of his early designs to their collection, including The Cross, a table with attached benches in the form of a Latin cross, and his famous Table-Chair. The traditional production process plays a crucial role in his approach to designing and Hutten combines this with a real fascination for industrial production processes.
