Discover Piet Hein Eek’s Made in the Workshop chairs at

In 2012 Piet Hein Eek and Hans Lensvelt, who have been friends for more than 20 years, developed Made in the Workshop for Lensvelt.

The chairs were originally designed for the Verkade fabriek, a bisquit factory in Den Bosch that was completely renovated in 2004 and turned into a cultural centre. Piet Hein Eek was inspired by the idea that furniture could be made in the metal workshop of the factory, where the staff repaired and maintained the machinery.

The stackable chair of the Made in the Workshop series has a light and simple character, with a basic tubular steel frame and wooden seat and backrest. The steel tubes are welded together, the corners are just visible behind.

The Made in the Workshop series are now available at in several new Kvadrat upholsteries.
