AVL Shaker Table
Joep van Lieshout’s design for the AVL – Shaker furniture collection is a hommage to the famous predecessors from apartment sharing and cooperatives AVL-Ville. In 19th century North America the so-called Shakers created an almost self-supporting form of life and work, in which contact with the outside world was scarce. Their furniture was quickly recognized as sublime, timeless designs that because of their soberness were ahead of what the 20th century was to call modernism.
The solid wooden AVL – Shaker Table with a depth of 100 cm is available in three standard sizes: a length of 195, 295 and 395 cm. The frame is made of hardwood meranti, the top sheet consists of solid colored wood parts and this gives it a vargated look.
Design: Atelier van Lieshout (1998).
