Care hotel Domstate Utrecht

Albert van Koningsbruggen in Utrecht. The clients are guests, the reactivation center is a care hotel. diederendirrix designed the renovation of the care complex, Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe, the interior.
In the building from the seventies of the last century, an integrated care concept was realized for AxionContinu. The Domstate program consists of a care hotel for short-term rehabilitation with luxury care rooms, a research and treatment center, a restaurant and workplaces. All functions are organized around a patio that has been redecorated.

Everything is rehabilitation.
Within the architecture of diederendirrix architects Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe translated four themes into interior and use. Together with AxionContinu the substantive basis for the interior has been laid.
The design by Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe encourages guests to do things and to be actively involved in strengthening. The themes that can be found in the design are: ‘It is a hotel, unless …’, ‘Outside colors’, ‘Outside introduction’ and ‘Rehabilitation is top sport’ can be felt throughout the building.Rehabilitation is top sport.
Everything in Hotel Domstate revolves around rehabilitation. The goal of Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe is to make this as fun as possible. To motivate hotel guests and challenge them with an active look and playful elements in the design. Seduce to continue in the direction of your own independence.

In the hotel, due to the understated appearance, the gray office furniture Boring van Lensvelt was used. In the audio studio, This 102 Upholstered Chair Armrests are mixed with 101 & 102 PP Chairs designed by Richard Hutten.

Richard Hutten This Bucket Chair Steel frame

Richard Hutten This Bucket Chair Steel frame provided with a steel four-legged chassis.

There was a need for a new, distinctive chair with armrests. A chair with the same design language as the elegant, stackable and lightweight bestseller: This Chair, which Hutten developed in 2004 together
with Lensvelt. It became This Bucket Chair in 2017. This instant classic has a familiar typology: the tub. But then with a new appearance and production process. Lensvelt and Hutten have done extensive research on ergonomics and comfort. This Bucket Chair is better than any other chair. A special plastic has been used: the same material that car manufacturers use for the bumpers of cars. The combination of this material and the positioning of the mounting points ensures that the scale moves with respect to the frame. This makes the chair ingenious, aesthetic, flexible, elegant, functional, affordable, circular and extremely comfortable.

Rietveld made the ideals of De Stijl spatially visible. In 1923 he coloured his armchair red and blue. Not much later he built the famous Rietveld Schröder House and designed a series of Military furniture for the Catholic Military Home in Utrecht. PHE Made In The Workshop Office Chair Beech Plywood

The Stackable Chair perfectly shows the light and simple character of the Made in the Workshop-line. The chair has the typical, simple and basic frame made of steel tubes, with a wooden seat and backrest. The seat and back of the chair is made of beech plywood or beech plywood upholstered.

The steel tubes are welded together, the corners left visible on purpose. The place where the wooden backrest is connected to the frame is made extra noticeable by the use of a big screw with a round, flat head.
