De Rotterdam was built on the Wilhelminapier, from where tens of thousands of Europeans with the Holland America Line (HAL) emigrated to America between 1873 and 1973. The name of the project also refers to the flagship of the HAL: the Rotterdam. The ‘De Rotterdam’ building has been realized at a special location, directly on the River Maas on the Wilheminapier in Rotterdam. The building was designed by OMA Architects and developed by MAB Development together with OVG Projectontwikkeling. The building consists of high-quality offices, luxury apartments, four-star design hotel, shops, catering, fitness and cultural functions. In total, the building comprises approximately 160,000 m², for example. spread over 3 towers. Every day about 4,500 people are in the building. According to OMA Architects’ design, benches and seats from the Blocks program were created for the entrance and also for the restaurant of Nhow hotel. Lensvelt Blocks was created for De Rotterdam based on the design of OMA Architects.
