Wiel Arets (Heerlen, 1955) is a Dutch architect, graduated in 1983 from the Eindhoven University of Technology. Arets is known for its simple and abstract designs and great preference for black and white. Wiel Arets Architects has three locations: in Maastricht, Amsterdam and Zurich.
Arets gained great fame with his design of the Academy of Visual Arts in Maastricht and the restoration of the Glaspaleis in Heerlen. Recent projects of Arets are the IJhal in Amsterdam and Urban Studios in Maastricht. Wiel Arets also designed the Lensvelt headquarters in 1996.
