The previously unremarkable music center opened its doors in October 2010 after a major transformation. The sparkling interior is also an eye-catcher from the outside thanks to a new glass façade.
“Metropolitan allure” and the “emphasizing the regional identity of Eindhoven”, these two conditions “which seem rather contrasting than complementary” were the guiding principle for the renovation of the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips in Eindhoven.
The M-Collection was designed for the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven: a modular system in which a pouf with an extra element turns into an armchair or bench. By adding another module, a special listening chair is created, with integrated boxes and a digital connection to a traditional database. The design is inspired by music cases: the ‘outside’ is hard and protective, the inside luxurious and soft. Playful variations in fabrics and colors make each piece of furniture unique and bring the experience of the large spaces in the Muziekgebouw back to the human dimension.
