Chairs inspired by biscuit factory Verkade
PIET HEIN EEK STORE, EINDHOVEN – Products of the co-operation between Hans Lensvelt and Piet Hein Eek: the Made in the Workshop furniture. The chairs were originally designed for the Verkade fabriek, a bisquit factory in Den Bosch that was completely renovated in 2004 and turned into a cultural centre. Piet Hein Eek was inspired by the idea that furniture could be made in the metal workshop of the factory, where the staff repaired and maintained the machinery. Click here to order
Piet Hein and Hans: they go back 20 years…
PIET HEIN EEK STORE, EINDHOVEN – Piet Hein Eek and Hans Lensvelt have been friends for more than twenty years. In the past, Lensvelt manufactured pieces from aluminium and sheet metal designed by Piet Hein Eek. PIET HEIN EEK STORE, EINDHOVEN – The stackable chair of the Made in the Workshop series has a light and simple character, with a basic tubular steel frame and wooden seat and backrest. The design is so simple that it seems like you could put it together yourself. The steel tubes are welded together, the corners are just visible behind. Click here to order
VERKADE FACTORY, ‘s-HERTOGENBOSCH – The chairs were originally designed for a renovated bisquit factory in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. On this picture you can see the first models of the chair. PIET HEIN EEK STORE, EINDHOVEN – A large screw with a round flat head, attached to the metal frame, makes the backrest and seat more striking. The seat and backrest are also available with a slightly padded lining with upholstery from Kvadrat. Click here to order
COFFEE COMPANY, AMSTERDAM – Interior of the Coffee Company roastery at Oosterdokseiland in Amsterdam. Guests can taste the fresh roasted coffee on wooden stackable chairs of the Made in the Workshop series. Interior is designed by Jeroen Vesters. Click here to order

TIME OUT BAR, MOSCOW –

Located at the top of Beijing Hotel (12th and 13th floors), Time Out is a fashionable bar in Moscow that attracts a mostly bohemian crowd. The building was constructed by the Russian KGB as a symbol of Russia’s friendship with China. The interior has a lot of greenish chairs in it – including green versions of the Made in the Workshop chair.
