Joep van Lieshout’s design for the AVL Shaker collection is an homage to the famous predecessors from apartment sharing and cooperative AVL Ville. In 19th century North America the so-called Shakers created an almost self-supporting form of life and work, in which contact with the outside world was scarce. Their furniture was quickly recognized as sublime, timeless designs that because of their soberness were ahead of what the 20th century was to call modernism.
The AVL Shaker Chair, with the characteristic seat that ‘slopes’ to the back, is easy to combine with different pieces of furniture in a variety of ways.
This chair is made of clear- or lacquered varnished oak veneer.
48 x 49 x 72 cm.
