The Stealth Cabinet Range was originally designed by Wiel Arets for the new construction of the AZL building in Heerlen. The materials in this building, which is glass, concrete and stucco, are hard and echo all sounds. As a result extra attention was given to the acoustic damping. A solution was found by lining the cabinets with sound damping material, which leads to amazing results. A perforated screen with acoustic dampening material was fitted to the sliding doors and the back panel of the cabinet. The cabinets are assembled by attaching two or more inner units each 80, 90 or 100cm wide. Each unit has its own lock. The doors are on the outside of the cabinet and locks have been fitted on the top. The Stealth Cabinet can be used one-sided (49cm) or double-sided (90cm). This is unique in the project market. Drawers, pullout frames and all other imaginable lay-outs are possible. The Stealth Cabinet is available in four standard heights: From 81cm high for two files above each other, to the maximum 189 cm high for five files. Cabinets of 151 cm high are often used as acoustic dampening dividing walls in open plan offices. Design: Wiel Arets (1995).
