Gerard van den Berg Vlag Chair
The multifunctional Vlag Chair (Flag) was inspired by the image of a waving flag. This movement is clearly recognizable in the design. The rugged, undulating shape of the seat is supported by tight, narrow legs. Soft upholstery is supported by hard material. A contrast between ‘sit’ and ‘support’ that can be seen in other designs of Gerard van den Berg. Flag can be used in any environment, from lounges, conference rooms, reception areas to restaurants, as well as an occasional chair in the office or in the interior of a home. The several upholstery fabrics are the starting point for the upholstery of the cockpit. The fabric is not glued. The backrest is slightly springy providing optimum comfort. In the frame the undulating lines continue visually. Flag is equipped with a stackable chassis or a mobile variant: a 5 leg base with gas lift for height adjustment. In this form a tilting device is default. Flag optionally features an open metal or upholstered armrest.
Design: Gerard van den Berg (1999).
