Lensvelt likes to work on initiatives like this a pop-up hotel in which the furniture is part of a circular utility model

Locally produced

We manufacture our products as locally as possible

We prefer to support as many local companies and local organizations as possible. This stimulates new labor within your own economy and minimizes overall freight Co2 and travel costs making it more of a sustainable management chain.

We make our products as social and ethical as possible

Additionly we work with sheltered employment workplace organizations and with people who stand at a disadvantage to the labor market. It is our goal to intertwine these social workshops as much as possibly can within all our projects. For each project, we decide in consultation with the relevant workshop what type of work they can perform that benefits both parties.

The furniture at The Movement Hotel remains the property of Lensvelt and will be reused when the temporary hotel closed

The movement Hotel is an initiative of Movement On The Ground (a non-profit organization) and the Refugee Company

We attain a Warehouse Management System (WMS)

In our Warehouse Management System (WMS) we can quickly figure out which furniture is available for reuse, recycling or donation purposes.  Whether that be in direct need or for a longer-term timeframe. This environment is accessible via a web interface to authorized users and provides information about both the phase and status of the products and the concept(s) of circular furniture.

Our products adhere to the concept of circular design & function

We believe in the possibility of a circular economy and find it important to work according to these principles. The way we like to do business, build and work together is characterized by a sustainable use of people and sustainable way of sourcing raw materials. That is why we have set up a system that significantly increases the overall sustainability of our furniture. Through processing products and raw materials innovatively and using them intellectually, we avoid unnecessary waste and contribute to a better overall environmental situation. Example, using glue is out of the question for us.

Our products can be disassembled wholly and quickly. As a result, a product can be reduced to bare elements that only consist of a singular material. If, for example, you dismantle the metal frame of Richard Huttens Bucket Chair, three material elements remain: fabric, plastic and metal. Are the elements broken? Then we always replace them. Working in such manner, a product remains in a vortex of endless circulation, extending its overall lifespan. If we, however, cannot achieve this notion, we then reuse the product element as a raw material.

We adhere to a unique numbering system where all of our products are provided with a number. Utilizing this number system it allows for us to immediately see which chair is of relevance. We know what the chair is made of and if there are any spare parts needed, it is a simple system to relocate these parts and send them back to us.
