Studio Job Parquet Carpet

The Parquet Job Carpet by Studio Job features a darker design easily adaptable in different styles of interior. The pop of gold is what completes the look of the carpet, giving it an amusing twist.  The lively pattern is inspired by tree trunks and their symbolic value, as the carpet was designed for the Runway of the A/W 2013 collection for the Dutch fashion house Vikor & Rolf. Subsequently, the carpet was utilized for a dance performance called: Dutch Dance Doubles. The National Ballet released four world premieres in which choreographers could collaborate with world famous Dutch artists. Studio Job creates spectacular pieces of work discovering the notions between art and design.

Studio Job

A place where technique, science and ornamental designs merge - embracing an art form of totality. This is an exemplary component of the designs featured in Studio Job, founded in 2000 by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel. Their work can be found in over forty museums internationally.

Studio Job embraces the renaissance spirit, combining both traditional and modern techniques, producing so called: “once-in-a-life-time-objects”. Acclaimed by a love of detail and freedom of expression they are seen as prime movers in contemporary applied art. Experimental, highly specific and still entirely universal, the body of work expresses pure craftsmanship focusing on quality instead of quantity for the masses. Thus extreme designs take precedence. As Job Smeets proclaims “We want to build up an oeuvre, not merely score a few hits.”

The Job Office series was designed for the Lensvelt collection. Staying close to their surrealistic and contemporary style of design, the collection is depicted through stark and brightly colored pieces of furniture, accompanied by a lamp. The collection is accommodated with striking gold details enhancing the iconic cartoon-like manners of their unique design craft.
