As Coffee Company re-brands their new look and feel, Piet Hein Eek’s design of the Made in the Workshop (MITW) Chair perfectly complements the creative atmosphere of the coffee concept. The coffee house is situated at Oosterdok and has added it’s very own Roasting and Tasting to the mix. Jeroen Vester creative director at Ninetynine proclaimed "That the space itself also has something workshop-like about it, just like the MITW chair."

Unity in diversity

Architect Jeroen Vester, envisioned a clear approach keeping “unity in diversity” in mind. Jeroen: "They also refer to it as: breaking the cycle. He has done so through the use of materials. Each renovated store now has a black metal back wall, four permanent concrete base counters finished in oak, steel, black and white tiles defining the different operations: "cash register & food", "espresso", "distribution" and "brewing".

Jeroen Vester: ‘Within the various elements of seating and interior, the locations seem to define their own ambiance, for example a cozy living room feel or an urban quality. The kick-off at Oosterdok with the Roasting & Tasting was not merely a first experiment but also meant as a statement. We wanted to emphasize the down-to-earth, Dutch, traditional character of Coffee Company.

Piet Hein Eek is a connoisseur of simplicity and well thought out concepts. He stands for honest, sustainable and local ways of producing in which the MITW chair completely ties all elements together. A simple but complete concept that enhances the new brand interior of the infamous Dutch coffee house - The Coffee Company.
