Zitplaatsensysteem voor luchthavens BLINK: WINNAAR Categorie Duurzaam Ontwerp van Dezeen

Blink is een plasticvrij en lokaal geproduceerd zitsysteem ontworpen voor luchthavens. Het is ontwikkeld en circulair geproduceerd door Lensvelt Contract bv en ontworpen door Richard Hutten voor Schiphol. Voor de productie van Blink zijn de oude stoelen op Schiphol gerecycled; de oude stoelen werden de nieuwe stoelen. Dit werd gedaan door de herbruikbaarheid van producten, het recyclen van grondstoffen en het gebruik van duurzame materialen zoals kokosvezel, wol of gerecyclede kleding.

Richard Hutten tekende de eerste schets op een kartonnen doos tijdens een van de eerste meetings met het Schiphol team, CEO Rob Brugge en Lensvelt's senior account manager Pieter Kraaijenbrink, de drijvende kracht achter dit project.

Moreover, recyclable aluminum is used, the upholstery is designed in a way that it can be reupholstered when flawed and we make use of bio-based table tops. The composition of this material is natural-based resin that is reinforced with natural fibers. So that after a long life cycle, it can be fully reused.

The carbon footprint of Blink is 95% less compared with similar products from competition. The main focus in the design was to create a product that was as long lasting as possible, however, should its lifecycle come to an end, we have ensured it can be stripped down and recycled again easily.
